Message For Fellow Transalpers

Davy with a CowJust in case there is ANYBODY beyond the usual 7 people reading this, hope you folks enjoyed the Transalp Challenge as much as we did. We met loads of great people, have lots of great memories to cherish, and the memory of the pain is fading fast. It seems a long time ago that we were back here.

A special note to the other Tango and Cash team (team 266), who were both forced to retire from the event through injury. Get well soon, lads, and keep pedalling. Transalp Challenge 2007 beckons.

Hi guys,

Well done to you both, what a story and an adventure.

So as per your question way back in March,(How hard can 400 miles and 65,000 ft of vertical climbing over 8 days be?) well?

Oh what did happen to that tee shirt?

Rick McKee said...

The T-shirt was used for a photo atop a big mountain. Just waiting on the pics from Tango now, and we will stick some on the site. You can judge from the pics how tough it all was! Cheers.

Well Done Rick and Dave,

Have enjoyed following your day by day details on line and certainly this was a challenge beyond all challenges.
Hope you are recovering and your work mates are giving you a nice soft cushion to sit on.

from your Dale and Denise

I work for Mike's Bike Tours out of Münich doing the Neuschwanstein tour daily. I was really hoping to see you guys go by at the start out of Füssen but you guys went around Alpsee a different way. Ah well.

Congrats on the finish! Thanks for the great stories.

PIA One Speed Freak! I had heard of Mike's Bike Tours alright.

We didn't even make it to the castle when we were in Fussen, as it was up a hill and we reckoned we would have plenty of those over the week.

Maybe some other time, eh?! Cheers.

wow you are some guys!

Congratulations, it was an amazing achievement and one that your local Council fully appreciates and takes a certain amount of credit for!

very entertaining few weeks on the blog except for all the boring stuff about bikes, hills, being sore, hills, weather, and hills!

well done again a fantastic effort, now get back to recycling!

and remember folks - Recycle now with Antrim!

So much for the free use of the Antrim Forum for our training!! Leaving the bin to the end of the drive was as much support as we got!!

Good work lads, and ignore the uncivil servant. He will get his comeuppance. Davy, love the cow with bell, and glad you boys didn't end up like one competitor in the TransAlp Challenge 3300BC! (yes, I'm alluding to Oetzi the Iceman, who obviously didn't get his gear from the same good folks who supplied yourselves; mind you, some other competitor shot him with an arrow, so you can't be too careful).

By far the best blog I've read of the Transalp 2006!
Cheers from a 2005 Transalp finisher
